Alfvén Wave Mode Conversion in Pulsar Magnetospheres

The radio emission anomaly coincident with the 2016 glitch of Vela pulsar may be caused by a star quake that launches Alfv\'{e}n waves into magnetosphere, disturbing original emitting region. To quantify lifetime waves, we investigate possible energy loss mechanism, conversion Alfv\'{e}nwaves fast magnetosonic waves. Using axisymmetric force-free simulations, follow propagation launched from stellar surface small amplitude closed zone dipolar magnetosphere. We observe mode happening in ideal regime. efficiency during first passage wave through equator can large, for reach large amplitudes as they travel away star, or propagate on field lines passing close to Y-point. However, is reduced due dephasing subsequent passages and considerable power remains. Thus while some leakage happens, need detailed understanding quenching order say whether alone lead reactivation short timescale.
